FEATURED CAMPAIGN:

Yeo Valley has the X-Factor

Written by Geir Freysson

A boy band in a farm in the West Country rapping about organic milk – it could have gone so wrong. The idea was audacious: Raise the profile of a dairy brand by placing a two minute ad in the first commercial brake of the first 2010 live show of one the UK’s most popular TV shows, The X-Factor.

But it didn’t go wrong. Yeo Valley’s first ever TV campaign was an enormous hit, generating 410,000 views within 48 hours of being aired, out-pacing X-Factor itself on Twitter, raising brand awareness by 71% and bagging the agency behind it, BBH, the prestigious Grand Prix at the UK’s Marketing Society Awards for Excellence.

Hell, I just bought organic milk from Yeo Valley today!

That was 2010. Last Saturday, Yeo Valley gave a repeat performance, this time replacing rap with a Take That style dramatic melody. Is it as good as 2010′s rap version? Judge for youself:

2010 – Yeo Valley Official X Factor rap

2011 – The Churned Forever
